WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

1987

It all started with our founders Mariangela Franchetti and Nicholas Bond who, when visiting Mariangela's family in their home town of Florence had an idea. This idea was a leather handbag business using the finest material from Florence creating practical designs with an Italian flair.

THE FIRST COLLECTION

1988 - 1989

After finding lovely family run suppliers we began designing our debut collection which was released in 1988. This was an amazing moment seeing our designs come to life! Every bag was designed to be elegant and timeless while still incorporating fun details.

OUR FIRST STORE

1992

After a few years of wholesaling we opened our very first retail store in the Lion & Lamb Yard in Farnham. The store gave us the opportunity to be face to face with our customers learning what they like and hearing their wonderful stories.

FIRST LONDON STORE

1996

We moved into the iconic Burlington Arcade, this was our 'I made it moment' we were no longer just a little store but had a shop on a prestigious address! We absolutely loved the community in London and this is where Franchetti Bond found it home base.

INTRODUCTION OF SHOES

1997

Due to popular demand we introduced shoes to our catalog. This was an instant win as our customers loved matching their shoes to their bags. This was the start of Franchetti Bond creating looks across multiple categories. To this day shoes is one of our most popular products!

OUR EXPANSION ACROSS THE UK

1998 - 2001

We began opening stores across London and the UK bringing Franchetti Bond to more customers. Our secret to success? We mixed practicality with gorgeous designs and of course high quality Italian materials.

WE CONTINUED CREATING

2001 - 2005

Over the next years we kept creating always keeping our customer's needs in mind. This era brought lots of colour and a modernised silhouettes. The early 2000's was also the start of the internet and we launched our very first website in 2001!

FINDING OUR HOME

2006

In 2006 we moved into Duke of York Square in Chelsea, this quickly proved to be a perfect location for us. Our customers loved shopping with us and then popping into a restaurant to eat or view the art at the Sachi Gallery. This location has been our flagship store for 20 years and where you will find us today.

OUR SHOP IN ALRESFORD

2008 - 2018

We moved into the beautiful and quaint village of Alresford in Hampshire. This store was local to our family and provided a meeting space for our non-London based employees. We loved this space and the tranquillity of Alresford. Many of you may recall this shop as we met lots of lovely new customers here.

INTRODUCTION OF CLOTHING

2018

After many years successfully retailing bags, shoes and accessories we ventured into our own brand of clothing. This lent wonderfully into our aim of creating cohesive 'looks' and completed the final piece of the puzzle. Clothing is one of our most popular categories till this day particularly our luxurious jackets!

COVID

2020-2022

Covid had a signficant impact on Franchetti Bond at the time we had limited online infastructure and relied on in person retail. As this dried up we began to understand the importance of e-commerce. This was a major turning point and we began focusing on our online presence.

NEW GENERATION OF FRANCHETTI BOND

2024 - 2026

Franchetti Bond has always been a family affair. Multiple generations have contributed to build it to where we are today and we are proud to continue this tradition. In 2024 Fiamma Franchetti Bond joined the company and later in 2025 Lorenzo Franchetti Bond came on board. The new generation comes with fresh ideas and perspectives. Even the little ones have got stuck in with the business!
